Next Wednesday I am supposed to start my class to receive a certificate in Makeup Artistry... I swore that I would follow through with this after much harassment from friends and family. I know that this is something that I want to pursue as a side job, something for fun, extra cash, something new...yet I am having second thoughts. I keep coming up with various, yet really valid excuses:
1. I have to be at work by 8am to leave by 4pm to make it in time for the 7:10pm class
2. the amount of make-up I need to purchase for the class is adding up quickly... almost $500
3. there is this amazing musician, Matt White performing at my work on Wednesday October 15th...I have to miss this show
4. I am still thinking of this excuse #4
what should I do?!?!
DO IT!!! If you don't try it, you'll never know, and I know you are passionate about this and good at it- you should have something to show for it! Your next post should be the rewards/positive things that could come out of taking the class. Ok, I'll stop being so encouraging now... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you are so good at makeup! You should totally do it!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am jealous of your pretty MAC collection!
ReplyDeleteDear Sister: Sorry to tell you (and you already know this) your excuses are not convincing me why you shouldn't take the class. The potential benefits of taking the class, as you mentioned: maybe a side job, extra spending money, contacts, fun, gaining expertise, far outweigh the small inconveniences of having to get up a little earlier, coordinate with work, sit in some traffic, miss 1 gig. You can listen to the artist's CD to and from class to make up for it. If you don't do it, you'll wonder, "what if?" You're young - this is the time to do things like this. Follow your passions. Don't make excuses to live out a part of a dream. Instead, make it happen. You'll be glad you did.
